Boost your productivity using circle segment tools within ESPRIT TNG

To fully leverage the productivity gains that circle segment cutters provide to part manufactures, a CAM product that can effectively produce the complex tool paths, is a prime requirement. Consequently, the challenge in fully utilising and achieving the maximum benefits of this curved cutter geometry surface is maintaining the proper tool inclination on a 3-dimensional surface.

ESPRIT TNG is Hexagon’s leading CAM solution for high value-added parts and demanding machining applications.

During this webinar, we will showcase following features of ESPRIT TNG:

  • Basic milling strategy and best practices for circle segment cutting tools
  • Determination of the optimal tool form for the application
  • How varying the tool point of contact can improve efficiency while utilising the entire cutting edge
  • Practical examples of ESPRIT’s 5-axis programming solutions for circle segment finishing

Replacing the 5-axis plane finishing cycle, the new 5-axis circle segment finishing applies to a group of surfaces with single or double curvature. This cycle is ideal for use with circle segment tooling. The circle segment finishing creates parallel cut passes perpendicular to a user-defined increment direction. The cycle automatically positions the tool axis to optimise cut pass coverage on the faces grouping(s) and to avoid collisions between the tool assembly and the model.
